Ana Spotts drew all the wonderful illustrations in this book for her high school Senior Project at The Denver Waldorf School. Each drawing brings to life what animals do and how they play in nature.

These stories were carefully selected because they are easy for the young reader and they depict the wonderment of nature and its enchanting forms of expression and voices. Some of the stories are very old tales; The Fox and the Bag and The Country Mouse, while others are short versions of what happens in nature without us even noticing; The Wind and the Sun, The Gray Squirrel, and The Frogs’ Secret.

Our hope is that your young emerging reader will love these charming stories and illustrations as much as we enjoyed creating this collection.

Your reader will delight in being able to read the poems, and short stories in this book. Whether or not it’s just one child or an entire class, they can slowly go through one story at a time and experience what happens in nature. Ideal for 2nd and 3rd graders.
